Kazumi Ikemoto was born in 1954 in Kyoto, Japan, and graduated from the the Kyoto City University of Arts in 1978 with a major in western painting. In 1997, Ikemoto became the Associate Assistant Professor in the Department of Ceramic, Glass, and Metal Work at Tama Art University and achieved full professorship in 2007. Ikemoto's work explores myriad media including painting, glasswork, and sculpture, and derives imagery from familiar sources such as characters from children's books or fantasy tails. He has numerus public installations throughout Tokyo and his works can be found in the public collections of the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art, Sapporo, Japan; South Australian College, Adelaide, Australia; Garasu No Sato, Hiroshima, Japan; and the Corning Museum of Glass, USA.
