TWO SATSUMA VASES
Taisho (1912-1926) or Showa (1926-1989) era, early/mid-20th century
Each painted in polychrome enamels and gilt, the first of baluster form decorated with beauties and children under trailing wisteria by a temple and pond, the shoulder painted with chrysanthemum blossoms, inscribed Satsuma and with the mark of the Shimazu family, the second cylindrical decorated with a central oval panel of a courtesan and attendants on promenade, the remaining area decorated with various figures enjoying a spring outing among blossoming cherry trees, the neck and foot with geometric patterns, signed Kozan (2)
